Virgin Australia has entered an MoU with Australian-based biofuel company Licella to support the commercialisation of a unique new process that converts biomass into sustainable aviation fuel. The Australian invention, Catalytic Hydrothermal Reactor (CAT-HTR), uses water technology to produce high-quality bio-crude oil from a wide range of different biomass, including agricultural and farm waste.
Air Australia (formerly Strategic) starts its double-daily service between Melbourne and Brisbane today (15 December). That comes hot on the heels of the inaugural Brisbane to Honolulu flight yesterday; and just ahead of the first Melbourne-Honolulu flight tomorrow. The Hawaii flights emply an A330 configured in two classes.
