Fashion trend this winter is glitter all the way
Your home is not the only thing during the holiday season to glitter with festive decorations. If the fashion world has anything to do with it, you’ll also be twinkling like a Christmas tree.
How else to explain the explosion of shiny sequins every holiday season? But this year, the glitz seems to be piled on even more because you can now sparkle from head to toe.
There is makeup to give you a shimmery golden glow, earrings and necklaces with chandelier-sized crystals, and dresses and gowns with every inch of fabric covered in sequins so they almost look like molten metal. And, of course, the little extras like shoes and bags are also part of the starry firmament, glittering with sparkly dust and sequins.
“There is definitely more this season. It’s very bedazzled,” says Sarah Casselman, senior editor at Fashion magazine.
While this big bang of bling was seen all over the fall runways — from below-the-knee sequin sheaths at Dolce and Gabbana to floor sweeping lurex at Antonio Berardi — all that glitters does not have to cost its weight in gold. The sequin shimmer has seeped its way down to those trendy but inexpensive mall stores like Le Château and Aldo.
